Kyle Maenz

                Originally from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, I began my career as a designer at Ryerson University in Toronto, Canada studying theatre production where I discovered my love of costumes and honed my skills at costume making. During this time I also earned my certification in Advanced Make-Up Artistry and Special Effects. Desiring to push my design skills further I pursued a master's degree from the University of Edinburgh in Performance Costume.

               During my time at the University of Edinburgh I began to explore more tech based design. I learned to create 3D models and how to 3D print objects and have used this to create pieces for my costumes throughout my work. I've also began to learn robotics, writing my thesis on wearable robotics for performance. I have built functional robots and 3D printed prosthetic pieces, including the horn of the rhinoceros costume featured in the Invasive - 2019 section of this website.
